Rev. Aaron T. Schian, the son of Tom and Barb Schian, was confirmed at Immanuel Frankentrost. During those years of confirmation classes, God used Pastor Neuendorf, now pastor at St. Paul Ann Arbor, to plant the seed of the call into the ministry for Aaron. After graduating from Frankenmuth High School in 2003, Aaron entered the pre-seminary program at Concordia University in River Forest, IL. Aaron majored in theological languages and had the opportunity to study abroad in Cambridge, England, as part of the Westfield House, the seminary for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England. God used Concordia and Westfield House to bring Aaron together with his future wife, Ruth, who is from Bremen, IN.
After they both graduated college, Aaron and Ruth married in June 2008 at Frankentrost, with a lovely reception at Zehnder’s. Aaron continued his theological training at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN, serving as a field worker in Wabash, IN, and as a vicar at a three-point vacancy parish in Chenango Bridge, Canastota, and Owego, NY. Upon graduation in 2011, Aaron received a call to Zion Lutheran Church in Owego, NY, as their sole pastor. Aaron served Christ’s Church in Owego for five years while Ruth served as a teacher at Zion’s grade school and as the church organist. During his time at Zion, Aaron worked within the village of Owego to establish a Christian community center. Within the Eastern District, Aaron worked with the LWML zone and the LLL as pastoral counselor. Previously, Aaron served as a committee member and delegate at the synodical convention in Milwaukee, WI. Aaron had great joy compiling the services and prayers for CPH’s 2017 Lenten series.
It is with great joy that he continues serving in the Office of Holy Ministry at Grace Lutheran Church, proclaiming the Gospel and administering the Sacraments.
